Toy Story 3 Trailer, Up Movie Put Pixar in Spotlight

Toy Story 3 trailer, Up movie all the rage

toy-storyNews tied to film production company Disney Pixar is all over the place today as animate movie lovers seek out the Toy Story 3 trailer and news about Up the movie, which hits theaters today.

The Up movie has gotten rave reviews from pretty much every source. Up the movie got only three bad reviews out of 136 on Rotten Tomatoes, giving it a 98 percent rating.

Business is booming

Of course, Disney Pixar doesn’t have anything to worry about regarding making money. The company has pulled in so much cash just from box office sales that it couldn’t go bankrupt if it tried.

OK, maybe it could, especially in this economic climate. Still, some pretty reliable sources are predicting that the Up movie will make $65 million cash today, beating out Pixar’s last release, “WALL-E,” which made $63 million.

Good business sense

I think it’s a very wise move on Pixar’s part to “leak” the Toy Story 3 trailer, which is more of a teaser, really, than a trailer. I haven’t been able to watch it because it’s a bit hard to track down, but one writer says that it doesn’t give anything away, but it’s a good short in and of itself.

Pixar’s Toy Story 2 performed even better than its predecessor, which was Pixar’s big-screen debut and drew plenty of fans — and box office earnings to the tune of $361 million. This year-in-advance Toy Story 3 trailer teaser is creating hype that will no doubt translate into big box office bucks in 2010.
